Organic (Food Scraps) Recycling Program
What are organics?
Organics are the items from your home that can be composted and include:
- all food scraps such as leftovers, peelings, and spoiled food
- other compostable household items such as plant trimmings and popsicle sticks
- soiled, non-recyclable papers such as paper towels, napkins, take-out delivery pizza boxes, and paper egg cartons
- certified compostable products compostable food ware and bags labeled with a Biodegradalbe Products Institute (BPI) logo
The City of St. Francis has a FREE Organics Drop-Off Program.
Residents can collect their food waste in a compostable bag and bring the bag to the drop-off bin located at Community Park.
You can pick up your free starter kit in the Public Works Lobby located at 4058 St. Francis Blvd NW, Monday-Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (avoid the lunch hour).

- Hair & nail clippings
- Cotton balls without chemicals
- Houseplants & flowers
- Wooden items such as chopsticks, Popsicle sticks & toothpicks
Food Soiled Paper
- Pizza delivery boxes
- Napkins & paper towels
- Facial tissues
- Paper egg cartons
- Coffee grounds & filters
Certified Compostable Products
- Compostable cups, plates, bowls, utensils & containers
- Must have the BPI logo certifying products are compostable
